For rucksacks, sleeping bags and serious hiking gear, check out the Mount Green Trekking Shop on Beijing Dong Lu, opposite and west of the Yak Hotel. Export-quality Chinese sleeping bags cost Y600 to buy (Y20-30 a day to rent), and two- or three-person tents, rucksacks, Karrimats and stoves are Y30-40 per day to rent. The North Col Mountaineering Shop, opposite the Potala in the northwest corner of People's Park, has a wider selection, but is more expensive. You can rent sleeping bags from the Snowlands Restaurant for Y10 a night. |
