The Yak Hotel's 4th floor dorm may be a hike, but it is closer to toilets & hot water. It has the most beautiful dorm room in the world and a terrific view!
Visit off-season : November through February. You get discounts everywhere AND the pilgrims move into town.
If you do anything in your life, make sure it is visitng the Dalai Lama's staggering Potala Palace. IT's a steep admission (RMB 50 to 80 ), but worth it.
The Makye Ame is a great place to get a tan and watch the pilgrims on the kora circuit. Love that ginger tea!
Shop around for your Everest/Nepal tour. Everythign needs to be written down and get ready to haggle again for a few hours before you leave.  |
