Trip Code: TTO-02

Route feature:
  This is one of the two main routes of Sichuan-Tibet Highway which links the Tibetan areas of Western Sichuan with mainland Tibet. This route is longer than the southern route but less affected by rain during summer.
  The journey goes through the wild, mountainous and remote Tibetan areas of Western Sichuan, you will be amazed to see that Tibetan culture is in many ways better preserved here. The route offers an insight to the culture, custume and tradition of Khama people and you will visit big monasteries in Ganzi and Derge.
  Because of geographical remoteness and poor infrastructure and facilities, this journey could be very tough and challenging.
  You will start from Chengdu, pass by Wolong Panda Base, Danba, Baimei, Garze, Dege, Chamdo, Dengqen, Bachen,Naqu, Namtso lake, arrive at Holy city Lhasa.

The tour itinerary:
Day01 Arrival at Chengdu
  Chengdu airport picking up, Check in and have a good rest. Overnight at Chengdu.
 
Day02  Chengdu / Wolong Panda Reserve/Danba
   Visit Wolong Panda breeding and research center, and also you will see the Mt.Four girls on the way to Danba. Overnight at Danba
 
Day03  Danba / Bamei
  Visit Danba Ancient block towers in Suopo, and Jiaju County about 10km away from Danba city in the morning, afternoon visit Donggu Natural Reserve on the way to Bamei. Overnight at Bamei.
 
Day04  Bamei / Tanggong Monastery / Luhuo ( 180Km)
 Drive about 20km from Bamei to visit Tanggong Monastery, then drive back all the way to Luhuo, visit Drango Gompa and Joro Gompa. Overnight at Luhuo.
 
Day05 Luohuo / Kasuo-tso ( Kasa Lake) / Ganzi
  Drive from Luohuo to Ganze, about 20km from Ganzi have a look at Kasuo-tso. In the afternoon visit Garze Monastery and some  small monsteries around. Overnight at Ganzi.
 
Day06 Ganzi / Yihun La-tso ( Xinlu hai) / Derge (220km)
   Drive from Ganzi to Manigango, around 13km after Manigango is Yilhun La-tso ( Xinluhai), a stunning, holy alpine lake bordered by chortens and dozens of rock carvings. And you will have a chance to the huge glaciers of 6018m Que'er Mountain. Arrives at Gerge to visit Derge Bakong Scripture Pringing Press and Monastery.  Overnight at Derge.
 
Day07 Derge / Chamdo( 340km)                                         
  Drive from Derge to Chamdo via Jomda, crossing the Jinsha river at the boarder and several high passes. Overnight at Chamdo
 
Day08 Chamdo / Jampaling Monastery / Riwoche(105km, 5-6hours)
   Chamdo is the major transport, administrative and trade centre of the Kham region. In the morning visit Jampaling Monastery on the hilltop, do pilgrimage circumambulation. Then drive to Riwoche. Overnight at Riwoche.

Day09 Riwoche / Riwoche Monastery / Tengchen (150KM,6-7hours)
  Morning drive to visit Riwoche Monastery Tsuglhakhang, then start driving to Tengchen, visit Zhizhu Monastery, considered to be Tibet's largest Bon Monastery. This part road from Riwoche to Tengchen is very narrow, better no stop on the way. Overnight at Tengchen.

Day10 Tengchen /Sok (306km)
  Today you will see the fabulous views of nomad camps and yak herds made tiny by the huge range of snowy peaks to the south, cross the stunning Shel-la(4830m) pass, probably you will have a chance to visit the impressive Sok Tsanden Monastery, the miniature Potala. Overnight at Sok.

Day11 Sok / Nagchu (238km)
  Today you will be well and truly in the grasslands of northern Tibetan. on the way you will pass several small villages, nomad tents. Overnight at Nagchu.

Day12 Nagchu / Namtso Lake (210km)
  Take the Qinghai-Tibet Hway to arrive at Damxung, then pass the Largen-La, arrives at one of the three holy lakes in Tibet - Namtso. You can do a bit walking at Namtso Lake side. Overnight at Tent guesthouse.

Day13 Namtso / Yangbachen hot-spring / Lhasa ( 190Km)
  After a bit walking at Namtso, start driving back to Lhasa, on the way go to Yangbachen have a hot-spring, wash over all dust after a long jounery. Overnight at Lhasa.
 
Day14 Lhasa sightseeing tour
  Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkor Market. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day15 Lhasa airport dropping off, end the trip.
